Saskatoon is on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. The city is often called the "City of Bridges" for its seven river crossings - it is also occasionally referred to as "The Paris of the Prairies", for the same reason). Another, less commonly used nickname is "POW City" - POW stands for Potash, Oil, and Wheat. This nickname was popular in the 1960s and 1970s. Saskatchewan grows half of the entire quantity of Canada’s major export crops: wheat, oats, barley, rye, flaxseed and canola. Mining is also an important part of the economy. The Saskatoon region is the world’s largest exporter of uranium, and nearly two-thirds of the world’s recoverable potash reserves are located in the Saskatoon region. This four-season destination includes attractions like the Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Western Development Museum, Credit Union Centre (formerly Saskatchewan Place), and is home to many festivals and events.
