Local markets and Myan ruins are never far away from the beaches and provide some fun and interesting day outings for those who want to give their skin a break from the relentless sun. Tourism is king here and visitors are treated royally. Like most Mexican cities these days, though, safety is a concern so remember never to hail a cab on the street - get a concierge to call one - and make sure the club areas you frequent are given the seal of approval by your hotel. Most of the residents in Pueto Vallarta speak English so you'll never get lost.
