Rocky Balboa’s hometown is a wonderful place to visit, especially in the summer months. It has great neighborhoods and great history – it’s the place where the U.S. Declaration of Independence was signed and the city actually served as the U.S. capital between 1790 and 1800 before Washington assumed that role. Fast forward to the 21st century and a modern Philadelphia emerges – one which offers visitors great food, great entertainment and great times. Independence National Park, the Liberty Bell and Philadelphia’s City Hall – where the Sylvester Stalone character Rocky Balboa trained in the Academy Award-winning film Rocky – are just a few of the sites one must experience in the city. Because of Philadelphia’s early wealth and colonial importance, many museums and art galleries are scattered throughout the city. The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Rodin Museum, featuring great examples of the French sculptor’s works, are must see places here.
