 Ottawa

Canada’s capital is one of the loveliest cities in North America. Despite being an international capital, Ottawa retains its small town charm. It’s also the coldest capital city in the world and Canada’s fourth largest city. It is located in the Ottawa Valley on the eastern edge of Ontario and is a city situated on the banks of the Ottawa River. The population of the city proper is 808,391, while the population of the larger metropolitan area is 1,146,790. Ottawa is a thriving international technology and business centre and world class tourism destination. It’s also rich in culture and heritage with its many national institutions, parklands, waterways and historic architecture. It is home to a large number of foreign embassies and is a recognized centre for both academics and professional training. Our favorite museum among the many Ottawa offers is the recently revamped Canadian War Museum. The ByWard market located right downtown next to the Parliament Buildings is a great gathering spot, especially on weekends. In winter, the Rideau Canal is transformed into the largest ice skating rink in the world and the “Beaver Tails” sold on the banks – they’re actually beaver tail shaped donuts – are a real treat. But there’s no better time to visit Ottawa than in spring when the Tulip Festival is held.
