Founded in 988, Dublin was originally settled by Vikings amongst a population of Celtic tribes. By the 14th century the king of England controlled Dublin and the nearby area referred to as “the Pale”. By the 17th century Dublin was the second great city of Britain only behind London and a period when great Georgian style building were constructed which still stand today. The city’s markets are fun places to stroll and many pubs are being closed in the city to make way for trendy cafes and coffee shops. The city’s Trinity College is one of the most famed university’s in the world and the area bordering the school is filled with handsome architecture and wonderful green spaces. The famed shopping street known as Grafton St. is where you’ll find great bargains and see some peculiar sites. The colorful doors of the old Georgian homes make great photos to take back home. While the people are mostly friendly and accommodating, some get a bit aggressive after a long night at the local pub so beware.
