Currency: Thailand uses the Baht. $1 U.S. = 30 baht

Best time to visit: October through March.

Getting around: Use the air-conditioned sky trains but avoid the cute tuk tuk cabs – they’re cheap but dangerous. Meter taxis are safe and cheap.

Language: English is widely understood and spoken in most tourist areas of Bangkok.

Our favorite hotel: The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok – it’s rated the best in the world and its spa is simply the best as well.

Our favorite restaurant: The Seafood Market (388 Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok +66 2 261 207) ‎ is a Bangkok landmark where diners pick ingredients and then chefs turn them into mouth-watering dishes.
