Cheap Flights on Westjet Airlines

WELCOME ABOARD WESTJET

WestJet Airlines Ltd. is a Canadian low-cost carrier that provides scheduled and charter air service to 71 destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. Founded in 1996, WestJet is currently the second largest Canadian air carrier, behind Air Canada,  operating an average of over 380 flights  and carrying over 40,000 passengers  per day. The airline's sole aircraft type is the Boeing 737 Next Generation family. WestJet's main hub and headquarters are based at Calgary International Airport, with its second-largest hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport. WestJet is a public company with over 7,700 employees and is a rarity in the airline industry as it is non-unionized. WestJet had passenger revenues of $2.2 billion in 2009.  Founded by Clive Beddoe, David Neeleman, Mark Hill, Tim Morgan and Donald Bell, WestJet was modelled on the low-cost carrier business model pioneered by Southwest Airlines and Morris Air in the United States. The airline originally based its operations solely within Western Canada, hence its name. Due to restructuring in the Canadian airline industry resulting from the takeover of Canadian Airlines by Air Canada in 2000, WestJet expanded into eastern Canada, beginning service to the cities of Hamilton and Ottawa,  as well as Moncton, New Brunswick. The airline selected Hamilton to be the focus of the airline's eastern Canadian operations and its main connection point in eastern Canada. WestJet currently has codeshare agreements with Cathay Pacific and interline agreements with Air France, American Airlines, British Airways, China Airlines and KLM.
