The largest airline in Canada, Air Canada, which started operations as Trans Canada Airlines in 1936, offers services to 96 destinations in 33 countries. Air Canada is a founding member of Star Alliance, which has grown to include 21 airline partners as of 2011. Air Canada is ranked the world's 9th largest airline in terms of fleet size. Trans-Canada Airlines was renamed Air Canada in 1965. Privatized in 1988 following deregulation policies in the 1980's, Air Canada, as of 2008, had nearly $10 billion in passenger revenues. Airlines that are not a part of Star Alliance but do have code-share agreements with Air Canada are EVA Air, Jet Airways, Qantas and Mexicana. All aircrafts operated by Air Canada indicate a distinct Maple Leaf emblem painted on the rudder. This emblem for the majority of aircrafts is red in colour, however on the Air Canada Jazz fleet can also be orange.
